Sharp BD-HP52U

Sharp just announced at CEDIA 2009 that its new BD-HP52U Blu-ray player which will ship in October. It has the standard suite of Blu-ray features and onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Sharp is promising that premium streaming video content will be available on the BD-HP52U, and it is widely believed that that are holding talks with Netflix to provide this content.

The BD-HP52U supports BD-ROM Profile 2.0 for BD Live interactive features through an Ethernet jack-enabled Internet connection. Users can download and stream bonus content such as additional scenes, shorts, trailers and multi-player interactive games, providing the consumer full access to content otherwise unattainable. For the best high-definition video and the highest fidelity audio in home theater today, the BD-HP52U features AQUOS Link, enabling a simple one-cable connection via HDMI to carry a complete digital audio and video connection between the HDTV and the BD-HP52U player.

In the audio department BD-HP52U incorporates HQ Audio Circuits with an upgraded power supply that provides better sound and picture quality and delivers dynamic 7.1 Channel audio and true to life video. Surround-sound formats include Dolby® TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio via HDMI digital output. It will also decodes Dolby Digital Plus, which provides optimum surround sound for appropriately equipped receivers.

For added convenience, the BD player includes Sharp’s proprietary Quick Start feature for quick disc loading.

The BD-HP52U will be available in October 09 for a MSRP of $379.99. Watch out for the full review.
